Requirements
Requirements to obtain Provisional Residency:
To prove economic capacity, you must provide one of the following:
- Employment contract in Panama. The contract would be between the applicant and a Panamanian company.
- Owning Real Estate in Panama. The applicant must own a Panamanian property with a registered value of at least $200,000 US.
- Certificate of Deposit. Applicant must own a Certificate of Deposit for at least $200,000 in a national bank in Panama. It must include title, value, term and be free of encumbrances with a minimum validity of 3 years.
All other Documents that are needed:
- Passport
- Second piece of Identification. Like a drivers license or citizenship card
- Criminal Background Check. Clean national criminal background check from your country of citizenship, or country of residence for the last two years.
- Health Certificate. Issued by a Panama local doctor within the last 90 days prior to submitting the application.
- Repatriation Fee: $800 US certified check issued to the National Immigration Service for the repatriation fee.
- Application Fee: $250 US certified check issued to the National Treasury for the application fee.
- Sworn Declaration
- Passport Photos. 4 Passport size photos.
Timeframe and Processing
Once we obtain all documents from applicant, we File the application with the immigration office for a temporary residency permit.
The initial application takes about 6 months to issue a provisional residency permit.
Once the provisional residency permit is issued, it is valid for 2 years.
After two years, we apply for the permanent residency. This takes up to 6 months as well.
Once the application is approved, the provisional residency permit is replaced by a permanent residency permit.
